Zest For Life workshops have been designed to empower, educate, and give you the tools to bring tips home and live a healthy, happy independent life. There will be three workshops to choose from relating to cooking, technology and fitness. Upon your arrival, you will be able to sign up for the workshop of your choice during registration. First come, first serve.

Cooking Workshop: Simple Cooking With Some Zest!

There is no real magic to cooking…all you need is an interest and some simple know-how. A little zest goes a long way towards preparing a healthy quick meal with little effort.

Join Amber Capotosto, a certified Nutrition Manager and Chef from AJ Menu Solutions and Owner of Nutrition Vision as she shows us how to add extra flavor to cooking and keeping your meals simple. Amber will discuss food safety and teach us how to cook with some zest. Our very own CBC’s Randy Persaud will be joining in this workshop!

Learn tips for a delicious fall meal made only in minutes. All attendees will sample the finished product!

Technology Workshop: The Human Connection in a Digital World

We live in a world where people are connected more than ever before. According to Huffington Post, over the next 6 years, we are likely to see most of humanity connected to one another in some form of a mobile device, social media platforms or other methods of technology.

Join Kelly Farrell from Teach Me Social as she shows us how modern technology is helping friends and families stay connected. Kelly will introduce some emerging social media platforms and mobile technology that will help us unite in this digital world. We will perform a live video call during this presentation to help illustrate the benefits of staying more active, engaged, and learning how to use the internet, providing an ongoing sense of value and purpose.

Fitness Workshop: Keep Active and Live Golden: How Exercise and Music Can Keep You Feeling Groovy

Rejuvenate daily and enhance the quality of your life with gentle daily movement. Find ways to laugh and smile in your activities and by making time to relax, stretch and restore your body you can help keep yourself mobile, flexible and independent. With each year we grow in age and wisdom, choosing an active lifestyle becomes more important than ever. Daily exercise can provide tremendous benefit for your physical health, your mood, your memory and your sense of personal strength, confidence and independence. It can even help to reverse some symptoms of aging. There are many ways to keep active, the key is choosing activities you enjoy and that help you feel good and energized. Join us for a fun and gently rejuvenating session:

Get expert tips on how to safely prepare your joints and muscles before physical activity:

  • Boost your memory and physical health as you enjoy grooving with low-impact Zumba Gold dance steps and fun upbeat music.
  • Learn how moving with music can instantly lift your spirit and re-energize your mind and body.
  • Practice and take home tips for simple, gentle stretches you can do anytime and anywhere to reduce strain in your hips and back.

Please wear comfortable shoes if you plan to join us in this workshop.  You may also plan to remove your footwear if you would like.  This workshop is low impact and there are seats available for chair exercises also.  This session will be led by nationally certified personal trainer Heather MacDonnell, Founder and Program Director of Grooves Fitness and Dance, a Mississauga-based boutique studio that specializes in helping people of all ages feel good fit and find their groove in dance, through strength and with confidence.
